PSG vs Angers

Match date: Friday, 15 October 2021

Football – France Ligue 1

Venue: Parc des Princes

PSG Wins & Both teams to score

Odds: 2.80

The Parisians made a setback last time out in Ligue 1 on the road against Rennes when they suffered a pretty surprising 0:2 defeat.

They had control over the ball from the start but appeared to be quite inert in the front, while the home side performed more than decent via counters, and outplayed PSG1X2 with two goals scored in the last minute of the first halftime and first in the second.

Still, PSG firmly holds the leading spot in the general rankings, leaving their closest Lens with six points in deficit.

Midfielder Gharbi (1/0), left-back Bernat, central defender Ramos and goalkeeper Navas (6/0) remain out injured. South Americans central defender Marquinhos (6/0), defensive midfielders Paredes (2/0), and offensive players Di Maria (6/1), Neymar (5/1) and Messi (3/0) are spared this time due to international duties.

Angers finally ended their winless momentum in the last round at home against underdogs from Metz when they recorded a close 3:2 victory.

They were in deficit on two occasions during this clash but managed to bounce back every single time, and crowned their generally better appearance with one more just before the full-time whistle, after demonstrating a beautiful team effort.

Angers is currently at the 4th spot in the overall standings, sharing the same amount of points as Champions League-positioned Nice.

The guests keep missing full-back Bamba and midfielder Ould Khalde remain long-term absentees anyway, while forward Boufal (8/2) remains a doubtful after coming late from international duty.

Much better and vulnerable

Fatigue certainly had a certain role in the latest defeat of the Parisians, but generally speaking, they are shoving vulnerabilities in the back since the beginning of the season.

I am not questioning their positive result, as the quality gap is not comparable between these two, but I still think that Angers will spice this one with at least one goal, and do its best not to be that of an underdog in the upcoming clash.
